Ghana Football Awards: Mukarama Abdulai battles Felix Annan, Thomas Partey for Best Footballer of the year

The second edition of the Ghana Football Awards was officially launched yesterday at the Samsung Premium Rooftop at Circle in Accra.The ceremony was graced by sports dignitaries,journalists ,Sponsors and Board members of the awards.

Members of the board for this prestigious award are former Black Stars players, Augustine Arhinful; John Paintsil, Abubakaria Damba and veteran sports journalist, Carl Tuffour.

Other members include some notable journalists like; Henry Twum Asante, Saddick Adams,Felix Romark,Gary Al-Smith,retired FIFA referee Alex Kotey and Juliet Bawuah( the only female on the board).

The various categories for the awards are; Ghana Footballer of the Year, Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, Future Star Award, Goalkeeper of the Year, Home-Based Player of the Year, Foreign-based Player of the Year and Women’s Player of the Year were all unveiled during the launch.

The Ghana Football Awards gala night will be held in July with the exact date and venue yet to be announced.

Nana Bonsu – Enugu Rangers

Richard Ofori – Maritzburg United

Coach of the Year

Johnson Smith – Karela United

Charles Akonnor – Asante Kotoko

Augustine Adotey – Black Maidens

Home-based Footballer of the Year

Felix Annan – Asante Kotoko Abdul

Fatawu Shafiu- Asante Kotoko

Mohammed Alhassan- Hearts of Oak

Foreign-based Player of the Year

Thomas Partey- Atletico Madrid

Kwadwo Asamoah- Inter Milan
Joseph Aidoo – KRC Genk

Rising Star of the Year

Diawisie Taylor – Karela United

Grace Animah – Black Maidens

Mukurama Abdulai- Black Maidens

Women’s Footballer of the Year

Grace Asantewaa – Black Queens

Janet Egyir – Black Queens
