Keep me in your prayers — Nana Akufo-Addo

The President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has called on Ghanaians to remember him in their prayers as he prepares to take on the mantle of Presidency for the next four years.
“I am counting on all of you to give me the solidarity and support and to keep me in your prayers. I am going to need it every single day in the years ahead,” he pleaded.

Nana Akufo-Addo made the call when he addressed the congregation of the Accra Ridge Church at a service to thank God for successfully taking him and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) through the election and making them victorious.
Accompanied by his wife, Rebecca, and their children, who were all dressed in white, Nana Akufo-Addo said it was his hope and prayer that in everything he did, he would be guided by God.
A profound wish for Ghana
“I believe sincerely that it is only with His guidance and support that I can do anything positive for the people of Ghana and I will be on my knees every day praying for guidance and support from the Almighty, so that we can work together to bring prosperity and progress to our nation,” he stressed.
The President-elect said the profound wish that had guided him through his political life was the opportunity to use his energy, experience and knowledge to ensure the development of the country to a higher pedestal of prosperity.
On the general election, he said the people conducted themselves in a very beautiful manner on Election Day, a development that had enhanced the image of the country and showed to the world that there were countries in Africa, led by Ghana, that could do the right thing and behave properly.

God’s promises will come true
Delivering a sermon, the Methodist Chaplain for the Ridge Church, Reverend Emmanuel Kwabena Aryee, said whatever promise God had given his children would always be fulfilled, regardless of how long it took.
Citing Abraham and Sarah’s example in the Bible, he said God promised them a child but the promise was not fulfilled immediately.
“Abraham had to wait for 25 years for the promise to come to pass. For just the promise of a child, Abraham had to wait and wait and at a point he wondered whether he could be of help to God to fulfil the promise.
“When God called the Israelites from Egypt, he promised them a land, but it took 40 years for that to happen,” he said.
Rev. Aryee said no matter how long it would take, the promises of God would always come to pass, adding that what was important for people to do was to stay focused and hold God to His word.
Making a reference to Nana Akufo-Addo, Rev. Aryee said someone else would have given up easily, after making a number of attempts at the Presidency, but what differentiated him from others was the fact that Nana Akufo-Addo kept faith with the promise of God and that had culminated in his victory.
Prayers were said for Nana Akufo-Addo and his wife for God to lead and guide them in all they would do for the country and for God’s protection against any devilish attacks.
