There was an exciting display of culinary skills, as ten teams of three members showed off their cooking expertise at ‘Dafa Shi’ cooking competition powered by Happy FM in collaboration with Olam the producers of Royal Aroma Rice and Promasidor producers of ‘Onga’ food seasoning.

A total of thirty women with support from family members, friends and neighbours took part in the ‘Dafa Shi’ Cooking competition preparing delicious rice dishes with Royal Aroma Rice.

In all, there were three categories for scoring the competitors; taste, timelines and neatness with all ten participating teams going home with amazing prizes including products from Olam and Promasidor.

Even though the judges said it was a keen battle, Abeka Zongo emerged the ultimate winners of three rice cookers with their expertly prepared Omo Tuo and Egushie stew. Darkuma Zongo with ‘Lagba and Ayoyo soup won the second place winning three blenders. Papaase Zongo took the third price of three kettles with their delicious ‘Kosh Kosh’.

The ‘Dafa Shi’ Cooking competition which was held in front of the house of the National Chief Imam his eminence Sheik Nuhu Sharabutu attracted many residents of Fadama.

The team from Olam provided free prepared Royal Aroma Rice meals to many people who queued up to have a go at their favourite meal, amidst a lot of funfair and performances by some of the young people from Fadama and its environs. Promasidor also refreshed patrons with chilled Miksi.
Speaking on behalf of Olam, Augustina Arhin, a marketing representative from Olam took patrons through the features to look out for when buying Royal Aroma Rice.

‘’Royal Aroma has been in the market for a long time, it used to be in a yellow bag but we rebranded to the orange bag that you are seeing here today. When you go to the market to buy Royal Aroma, you will see a beautiful lady with a cooked plate of rice in her hand on the bag. If you don’t see these features, it is not Royal Aroma. The versatility of the Royal Aroma Rice has been proven by the ten ladies here today, with the assorted meals they used it for’’ she said.

Victoria Odoom a marketing representative from Promasidor also gave participants a lecture on how to use the ‘Onga’ variants.
‘’The Onga classic is used to season meat, the Onga shrimp on the other is more suited for seafood. The three mix Onga seasoning is meant to enhance the taste of your ginger, garlic and onion in all your dishes. Finally, the Onga stew seasoning and cubes are great for stews and soups. The best thing about Onga seasoning is that they are all made in Ghana’’ she stated.

The Programmes Manager for Happy FM Emmanuel Akrumah on his part thanked the Chief Imam and the Muslim communities in Accra for their overwhelming support of the ‘Dafa Shi’ cooking competition.

‘’The ambiance here today proof that Happy FM has warmed itself into the hearts of Muslims and as an organisation we thank you for coming out in your numbers to support this competition. There is no better way to climax this year’s Idi Ftr than this event. The Dafa Shi cooking competition. Thank you all and keep listening to Happy FM” he said.
