The ring leader of the eight suspects who are in court for allegedly kidnapping two Canadian ladies has apologised for his role in the kidnapping incident.

Sampson Aghalor, alias Romeo apologised to the victims, their families, Ghanaians and the people of Nigeria.

He said, even though he played a role in the kidnapping incident, not all the issues attributed to him are true.

Aghalor, a Nigerian like Yusif Yakubu also accused the BNI of torture, a development he said forced him to write a statement against himself in the matter.

According to him, his pregnant wife from Nigeria who was in Ghana to visit him, was prevented from seeing him and has since gone back.

He also accused the BNI of beating them and isolating them.

He therefore prayed the court to remand them to the prisons custody instead of the BNI where they can have people to talk to.

The Attorney General’s Department represented by Senior State Attorney Hilda Craig, however, denied any case of torture as alleged by the suspects.

She said the accusation by the suspects were an afterthought and one aimed at fabricating stories to denigrate the BNI.

The Senior State Attorney, told the court that the prayer for them to be remanded at prisons custody should be declined because it will delay investigations.

She prayed for them to be remanded at the Police custody at the BNI headquarters.

The court presided over by Justice George Buadi in a related development granted the state request for a warrant for the arrest of two persons involved in the case.

The two, who according to the state, are residents of Kumasi were only mentioned as Mohammed and Derry.

The state attorney said they have their photographs and prayed the court to allow them publish in the Daily Graphic, the Daily Guide, the Ghanaian Times and social media platforms for their arrest.

The court granted their application and issued a bench warrant for their arrest.

Andrew Kudjo Vortia, counsel for Seidu Abubakari, informed the court that the state had made no case for his client for which reason he should be kept in custody.

But the court said he ought to come by formal application.

The case has been adjourned to July 15 after the state had requested for three weeks to be able to finish its investigations.

The eights suspects who stand accused for the kidnapping incident are Sampson Aghalor, Elvis Ojiyorwe, Jeff Omarsar, Yusif Yakubu, Abdul Nasir, Seidu Abubakari, Safianu Abubakar and Abdul Karim Suleman
