Nana Addo and Mahama are not corrupt but their appointees are – Allotey Jacobs

Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has jumped to the defense of President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo who has been tagged as a clearing agent for corruption by the opposition and Former President John Mahama who was also tagged as corrupt President whiles in power.

Allotey Jacobs, who now describes himself as a social commentator, says it is time for Ghana to respect their presidents and stop destroying them.

“Nana Addo and Mahama are not corrupt but their appointees are. How can you say that someone like Nana Addo is corrupt when you don’t have any evidence** I know the two very well. If someone is not corrupt, I can’t say the person is corrupt.”

He bemoaned the attitude of some section of Ghanaians especially politicians who spew venom against each other without basis. “What is wrong with this country? Why are we disowning and doing this to our leaders.”

Allotey Jacobs was reacting to comments made by the NDC at a press conference on Tuesday against the backdrop of President Akufo-Addo’s speech delivered on Monday at the Bar Conference held in Takoradi.

While addressing the 2019 Conference of the Ghana Bar Association, in Takoradi, the President, who has been tagged as a ‘clearing agent’ by members of the opposition party, insisted that all his appointees accused of corruption have been exonerated because they were declared innocent by investigative agencies directed to probe such claims made against them.

He accused the opposition, NDC of fabricating corruption allegations against his appointees.
