A medical doctor at the Impact Clinic at Asylum Down, Dr.Kenneth Dadzie has said that the female breasts are primarily for breastfeeding of babies and not for men. He however added that the men can “rent” the female breasts for sensual pleasure.

He made this statement during a medical workshop organized by the Human Resource department of Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMA-BC) for its employees. The activity is to help create awareness on breast cancer prevention and treatment, as the world marks Pink October.

Dr. Kenneth Dadzie discussed the issue of breast cancer and atherosclerosis. Staff of GMA were educated on the risk factors associated with breast cancer and how it can be prevented. Among other things, Dr. Dadzie encouraged women to conduct self-breast examination at home and also go for regular check-ups at the hospital.

He also added that the working class were at a higher risk of getting diagnosed with diseases such as Hypertension, Diabetes, Stroke, Heart Attack and Cholesterol. He, thus, advised that people should regularly check their blood pressure to prevent these five heart related diseases.

The CEO of Global Media Alliance, Mr.Ernest Boateng disclosed the motivation behind the medical workshop.

“We cherish our staff. In as much as they work hard, they also need to take care of their health. Also, since October is breast cancer awareness month, we found it appropriate to invite a medical doctor from Impact Clinic to educate the staff on breast cancer. We have also made provisions for our staff to check for breast cancer at Impact Clinic without cost. I believe it is a step in the right direction”, he said.

Some staff members of GMA shared their thoughts about the workshop.

Maureen Quaye a National Service personnel with e.TV Ghana said the workshop was educative and informative. ‘’I learnt a lot from the workshop, I can now do breast self-examination and I also know some cardiovascular illnesses I have to look out for’’ Maureen said.

Alberta Armah who is also an experimental at GMABC (PR) shared some new insights she discovered. ‘’ If your family member had any type of cancer, chances are that you might be infected with breast cancer as a woman’’ Alberta noted.

Impact Clinic is a medical and diagnostic centre that specializes in neurology, gynaecology, urology, among others and also deals in cases related to Fertility, Hematology, Prostate, Thyroid, kidney and Liver functions.
