Asante Kotoko has parted ways with head coach Kjetil Zachariassen, HappySports can confirm.

The Danish trainer was sacked by the club after his failure to qualify the team to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors lost to Ivorian side San Pedro by 2-1 aggregate in the play-offs. The defeat saw the fans calling for sack of the coach. The coach after the game was also advised to stay in Ivory Coast as management could not guarantee his safety return to Kumasi. Kjetil arrived in Ghana during the weekend with his agent to hold talks with management over his future.

In a statement from the club, Kjetil Zachariassen will not be entitled to any compensation after his contract was terminated.

Zacharrisen took over from Charles Kwabla Akonnor and supervised Asante Kotoko’s elimination from both the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup this season.

According to a statement by the club he will be paid his outstanding October salary.

Kjetil was on a $3000 monthly salary according to our checks.
