Ghana’s Black Meteors have set up a clash with neighbours Côte d’Ivoire in the semi-final of the ongoing U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Ghana progressed to the last four after defeating Mali 2-0 on Thursday at the Al Salam Stadium in the final group game, while Egypt beat Cameroon 2-1 at the Cairo International Stadium to secure their place in the semi-final.

The Black Meteors sailed through at the expense of Cameroon due to the goal difference rule despite been leveled up on four points each after the group stage matches.

In the other group, Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa qualified after the last round of matches. Côte d’Ivoire accrued six points to finish as group leaders while South Africa finish second with five points.

Defending champions Nigeria were kicked out of the competition after failing to defeat South Africa in the final group game.

Côte d’Ivoire topped Group B and will face Ghana in the first semi-final game to be played on Tuesday 19 November, 2019 at the Al Salam Stadium.

Host nation Egypt will play against South Africa in the second group game at the Cairo International Sports Stadium.
