Hearts coach Kim Grant needs time- Damba

Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Abubakari Damba has urged supporters of Hearts of Oak to exercise patience with their head coach Kim Grant as he builds a new team for the future.

The Phobians have gone a decade without winning a major trophy since they last won the Ghana Premier League title in 2009.

Supporters of the club are growing impatient with the club’s inability to win laurels in recent times.

However, Damba has jumped to the defence of Grant and has asked the supporters to be patient as he continues with his rebuilding process.

According to him, Kim Grant is working on a project that will restore the club’s past glories.

“When you talk about rebuilding, it is about getting the players you want, blending them to be able to play entertaining football to get the expected results and it takes time. Let’s assume Kwesi Appiah did not widen his scouting lens and relied on a few players, he would not have any back up by now”, he told Odi Asempa on Wamputu Sports.

“So you need to widen up your scouting lens, identify your talents and give them the opportunity so that any material time you can get players that you can rely on them or equally good replacement”.

“Kim Grant is giving a future to the Hearts of Oak team and he needs time”, he added.

Grant in his first season at the club reached the semi-finals of the Tier I Special Competition where they lost to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko on penalties.
