A 20-year-old woman has been arrested in Zimbabwe for the “concealment” of a birth, and for “clandestinely” burying a baby girl near a river in the small town of Banket, north of the capital, Harare, police have said.

The woman’s parents had also been arrested, police added in a tweet:

A 20 year old woman and her parents have been arrested for concealment of birth after the former gave birth to a baby girl which the trio buried clandestinely near Makwadzi river, Banket.@HeraldZimbabwe @DailyNewsZim @NewsDayZimbabwe @HMetro_ @ZBCNewsonline

Police did not give further details.
