Black Queens captain, Elizabeth Addo is set to organize a mini tournament for six female teams in Accra as part of efforts to create awareness about women’s football in the country.

Speaking to the media earlier today she revealed that, “The reason behind this tournament is to bring players together to showcase their talents to the world. I want to create  opportunities for female players and teams in Ghana.”

She also promised to reward the first and second teams after the competition and also present cash prizes to individual players who perform outstandingly in the competition.

According to her, there will be scouts around to identify talented players and urged all participating teams to give out their best during the tournament.

The competition which is set to take place at the Saint Thomas Aquinas school park on December 15th will see three premier league teams ;Police Ladies, Sea Lions, Immigration Ladies and three division one teams; Ideal Ladies,Rock Ladies and Ridge City FC participating.

Elizabeth Addo has been one of the most influential female footballers in Ghana having gone through the youth ranks in the National team throuh the  Black Maidens and is currently captain of the Black Queens.

She contributed five goals and 10 assists in 14 appearances for her club in the Chinese Women’s League.

The 26-year-old is the only Ghanaian player to make the 10-woman shortlist released by CAF for the 2019 Africa Women’s Player of the Year.She faces stiff opposition from the likes of Nigerian Asisat Oshoala and South Africa’s Christen Kgatlana.
