Bubba Jenkins reveals strategy to promote MMA in Ghana

Ghanaian-American Mixed Martial Artist (MMA), Bubba Jenkins, has put out what he believes he can do to support and promote the sport of Martial Arts here in Ghana, as it looks like Ghanaians might have a hard time accepting it.

He believes that the key to getting Ghanaians to accept Martial Art is making them see it as the sport it is, and not as a dangerous game.

In an exclusive interview with eTV Ghana, he said, ‘’The Nigerians have two Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champions meaning they have two millionaires that have fought themselves out of poverty to establish themselves as men in the world not only in America but in their respective countries and I know Ghana looks at that and says if Nigerians are doing it, we can do it too’’.

He furthered, “”If you go to Singapore or China, when they’re watching the fight, it’s completely silent because they know they’re watching two artists doing their craft”, he said.

The Mixed Martial Art champion added that when he goes to fight, he does not see it as violence because most of the time, the fighters are not even in dislike with each other”.

According to him, the drive behind educating Ghanaians that there is more to sport than just football and the others we are familiar with, is the biggest hurdle or leap they can take. Once they get to know that they can make their way out with fighting, it will be easy for them to accept Martial Arts as the sport it is.

Bubba Jenkins is convinced that Ghanaians have the athletic capability to do Mixed Martial Arts hence he is focused on making the sport efficient and established in Ghana.
