A Research Analyst at the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD), Mr.Godfred Asiamah has said that majority of Ghanaians are disappointed in the President’s fight against corruption in the country.

He was speaking in an interview with Happy FM’s Kwame Afrifa Mensah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show when he stated:

“Years ago, Ghanaians believed that the fight against corruption was good. But now, they have lost confidence in the President’s process of fighting corruption”.

According to him, Ghanaians have lost trust in the Presidency even though the current Government put in measures such as the Special Prosecutor in prosecuting corrupt Government officials.

When quizzed by Kwame Afrifa if the findings of CDD’s research will affect the outcome of the 2020 elections, he had this to say:

“Institutions who are perceived by the citizenry as corrupt can work towards changing people’s perception about corruption. For example, sometime ago, the police service were perceived to be the most corrupt institution. However, the police has now had a modest decline in the perception of them being corrupt”.

A survey conducted by the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD) showed that Ghanaians ranked the President and officials in office as the 6th most corrupt people in the country.
