Asante Kotoko defeated Hearts of Oak to win this year’s President Cup played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The game ended 2-1 in favor of the Porcupine Warriors.

Hearts of Oak took the lead in the 36th minute through Kofi Kordzi from the penalty spot as Empem Dacosta was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box.

The defending champions quickly got the equalizer through an own goal as Hearts defender Mohammed Alhassan directed the ball in the net from a cross by Kotoko’s Patrick Yeboah .

The first half ended 1-1 with both sides exhibiting good football to the supporters at the stadium.

Asante Kotoko dominated the second half and got the match winner in the 64th minute through Naby Keita.

Keita came at the receiving end of the cross to put his side in front.

Maxwell Konadu made two changes to his side and controlled the game to the end.

Hearts of Oak finished the game with 10-men as Sowah was sent off for a bad challenged.

Kotoko have beaten Hearts on two consecutive times to win the President Cup with the first in 2017.
