2019/20 GPL: Hearts lose heavily to Medeama

Medeama SC defeated Hearts of Oak 3-0 at the Akoon Park in match day two of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League (GPL).


The Mauve and Yellow side handed the Phobians their second defeat of the season to compound their problems after their match day one defeat at home at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts lost to Berekum Chelsea in the opening day fixture by a lone goal which saw Kim Grant lose his position as head coach and Technical director.

In the game played on Sunday, Medeama scored the opening goal through Richard Opoku Agyemang from the penalty spot after a Hearts player was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box.

Opoku Agyemang got his brace in the 35th minute to stretch the lead to 2-0.

The Mauve and Yellow dominated the game and got the third goal through Agyei Boakye in the second half to record their second win of the campaign.

Hearts of Oak currently lies bottom on the league log after this defeat.

Elsewhere, Great Olympics recorded their second defeat of the season as they lost to Aduana Stars by a lone goal at the Accra Sports Stadium.
