Ghanaian musician, Ahkan of Ruff and Smooth fame who is now based in Canada has asserted that he prefers to make and produce his music in Canada and America than in Ghana because musicians have massive support in these countries than in Ghana.

He was speaking in an interview with Happy FM’s DJ Advicer on the Ayekoo After Drive show when he stated:
“Musicians have no pension system like how other workers do. Making music is what helps us cater for our family. When I was doing music in Ghana, I realized that my future was not bright because in Ghana, we do not have the system to collect royalties after our hard work”.

According to him, his main focus is on building his brand on the international front that will sell Africa to the world. He added that he is neither thinking of the money he will make nor the music group he will form.

Ahkan was a member of the music group Ruff n Smooth with Ricky Nana Agyemang, CEO of Rufftown Records who managed the late dancehall act Ebony Reigns and other popular artistes such as Wendy Shay, among others.
