The Public Affairs Officer for the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), Ebenezer Amankwaah has assured Ghanaians that the extensive power outage in most parts of Accra yesterday is not a severe problem for them to worry about.

Speaking in an interview on the new Happy Morning Show (#HappyHMS) on Happy 98.9FM he explained that, the power outage was a minor problem and Ghanaians need not concern themselves about it too much.
“One of breakers (protecting the electrical circuit from damage caused by excess current from an overload) had a small failure tripping (cutting the flow of electricity to keep circuits from overheating or causing more damage) some of our lines in the process causing the lights to go off for a while,” he explained.

Crediting the engineers of GRIDCo, Ebenezer said, “Our engineers were on their feet throughout the night trying to restore power. As I speak, every line has been restored in the country. All areas which experienced the blackouts yesterday all have lights at the moment.”

He went on to reveal that, not only a substantial part of Accra and Tema were affected but other places outside Accra also suffered the outage. The GRIDCo spokesperson assured that, lights have been restored to all these parts. “Around 5am this morning, all the lights were restored. We should not worry about anything at all,” he added.

On his authority, GRIDCo as a company is committed to providing Ghanaians with uninterrupted power supply and that is the mandate his outfit seeks to keep. He further assured Ghanaians not to be perturbed because their mandate is still in session and GRIDCo will continue to deliver that on a consistent basis.
