SONA 2020: Minority shun Nana Addo’s address as they stage a walk-out

Social media has been busy with comments and reactions to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s 4th State of the Nation address.

The President performed his constitutional duty dictated by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution to give an account of the state of the country on Thursday, February 20.

The address to parliament highlighted key achievements by his government since he assumed office on January 7, 2017.

However, before the president also began his address, the Minority caucus staged a walkout.

Dressed in black attires, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) members decided to sit out of the session.

Below are some social media reactions to the address:

That’s so wrong and unpatriotic of the minority being that this is a very serious business of the nation.

For God sake you owe the people of Ghana (the very people that elected you) a duty to accountability.

Disappointing!!#SONA2020

I don’t know who advised the opposition @OfficialNDCGh MPs to stage this boycott. A really bad call. The optics it sends to the viewing public out there is one of disrespect of our democratic norms. That alone defeats whatever concerns they have for this boycott. SAD! #SOTNGhana pic.twitter.com/t2hT1NjcpW
