UG urges prospective students to verify details and apply before January 3 deadline

The University of Ghana has suspended lecturers following the confirmation of a case of the deadly coronavirus in the University.

In a press released the executive council of the university said: “Lectures on all University of Ghana campuses, including clinical and practicals, are suspended with immediate effect. In view of the suspension of lectures, students and staff who reside outside UG campuses and are currently off-campus should keep away from the campuses until they are asked to return.”

Earlier today, Head of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Badu Sarkodie says 4 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed.

This was announced by the government at a press briefing to update citizens on the outbreak of the Novel 2019 (COVID-19) in the country.

Dr. Sarkodie also disclosed that among the two other new cases which came to light on Saturday is a student of a university of Ghana who had been in contact with 12 people.

The Covid-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday after it has affected about 162,578 people and killed more than 6,069.

The deadly virus has spread to over 60 countries across all continents except Antarctica.
