Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram constituency, Sam George says the Ghana Football Association(GFA) and officials of government must guarantee the safety of Prampram residents before they use the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram as an isolation center.

The GFA offered the facility to government as part of its contribution towards the fight against the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.

Residents of Prampram, held a demonstration on Sunday to oppose the offer by the GFA to government citing that their views must be considered before the facility is used.

According to the Member of Parliament for the constituency, the facility is not well protected and secured to be used as an isolation center and they demand for proper security arrangements before the place can be used.

Speaking in an interview on Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports, Sam George alleged that GFA officials today met with some chiefs of Ningo Prampram and E.T Mensah without his consent on the issue.

”We agreed to have a meeting between the GFA and Ningo-Prampram Traditional Council to deliberate on the issue today. Later we were told another meeting was ongoing somewhere which had former MP E.T. Mensah and some selected chiefs present. The GFA presented six bottles of schnapps and Ghc 5,000 to them at that meeting for them to agree so they use the facility.

“We want the right thing to be done. As MP, I am interested in the safety of the people in the constituency. The facility does not have any proper security arrangement and what if those who are camped escape to the town” he quizzed.

“If they want to use the place then they should assure us of a proper security arrangement, he added.
