Ghana-based mobility startup, stabus, which connects commuters to private AC buses plans to deploy buses with contactless doors in Accra in a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Launched in November last year, stabus has developed a mobile app that connects passengers with private, air-conditioned buses for their ride to work and back home. The platform has already processed over 600 trips with nearly 9000 bookings.

To provide a reliable service to passengers, the buses on stabus leave on specific schedules and whenever possible use shortcuts, enabling users to get to their destinations on time.

Stabus is addressing inefficiencies in Accra’s public transport sector.
“We want to make sure there’s less physical contact in using stabus. With the app, you don’t have to queue or fight to board the bus. We also plan to upgrade our busses with contactless door opening technologies so that you don’t have to touch them before you get on board,” chief executive officer (CEO) Isidore Kpotufe said.

Stabus appears to be the best alternative to “trotro” in the era of COVID-19 as it uses private buses that are hygienic and disinfected after every trip. Isidore says the platform will be deploying big capacity buses so that social distancing protocols can be “practically observed”.
Stabus has also launched a program to enable companies to use its platform to safely transport their workers to the office and back home for a fixed monthly fee.

Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC) as part of it ‘Tech month’ is using its platforms this April to celebrate innovative product in the technology industry.
