The Accra Regional Police have been fingered in an alleged shielding of suspected Yemeni/Malian criminals.

On Saturday, a police team with a court warrant succeeded in retrieving ten assorted guns including a Pump Action (Mossberg-873409) with five BB live Cartridge with an expired license from their Community 18 residence.

But, the station released the suspects- Haled Ould Ibrahim shortly after the arrest without recourse to the Baatsona Police Station, where he and other accomplices have been declared wanted.

Some police officers confirmed the arrest and the bail but failed to throw more light on the issue.
Sources say it was Baffour Apenteng, the Crime Officer who masterminded the bail.

A few weeks ago, the suspect together with his group physically assaulted some errand gentlemen who had gone to their residence at Community 18 to deliver a letter from a lawyer.

What has raised eyebrows is the swiftness at which the Crime Officer granted the suspect bail to a suspect with a case pending.

Meanwhile, residents in the area have expressed gross disappointment about how the police have and some government officials in the area look unconcerned about the persistent shooting by the Yemenis, who claim to be Malians.
