Chief Hamilton Biney Nixon, the Deputy National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has portrayed ex-president Mahama as a corrupt president, it has failed in fighting corruption.

According to him, the NPP has plunged the country into more corruption than alleviating it.

He made these assertions on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show hosted by Kwame Afrifa Mensah.

In his submission, he noted that the Special Prosecutor’s office that was set up to check corruption and bring justice was even involved in corruption.

“Before the special prosecutor was introduced , we were tempted to believe that the special prosecutor will work like a demigod and give us justice.

There was corruption even at the special prosecutor’s office such that fuel could not be accounted for”, he added.

In supporting his argument, he listed certain occurences such as the “BOST contaminated fuel, cash for seat,PDS deal and the dismissal of the National Youth Authority bosses for corruption” , that were evidences of corruption.

“These are issues that have gone on for Ghanaians to realize that the incumbent Government cannot be trusted”, he added.

On December 3rd, 2019, the Ghana Center for Democratic Development issued a news release stating that “Ghanaians perceive increase in corruption level, giving government low marks on fighting graft, new Afrobarometer study shows”.
