The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has encouraged the populace to disregard statements from members of the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC) saying, it was a futile attempt by the opposition to discredit the EC.

In an interview on the Happy Morning Show with Samuel Eshun on Happy 98.9 FM, the Acting Director of Public Affairs, Mrs Silvia Annoh said, “We’ve not received any PPEs from the government. The EC has not been provided with any equipment by the gov’t”.

According to her, the claim and entire press conference organized by the minority leader was an attack and insult on the integrity of the EC. “Such statements would make people see the EC as unconcerned about the welfare of Ghanaians and that is not so”.

Madam Sylvia opined that the minority leader sounded like the EC had been provided with PPEs from the government and was insistent on proceeding to compile the new voters’ register “disregarding all advice” given them.

The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu. registered the displeasure of the NDC on the management of the coronavirus by the EC as far as the compilation of new voters’ register is concerned.

The Commission denied claims by the Minority that it had received personal protective equipment.
