No man has the right to call himself ‘Reverend’ – Man of God

Obadiah Amankwah, a man of God, has asserted that no man or servant of God has any right to use pastoral titles like Reverend, etc.

Obadiah insisted during an interview on Happy98.9fm’s Nsem Pii with Rev. Nyansa Boakwa that even though he is doing God’s work and is ordained to do so, he prefers to be addressed by his name or simply as ‘servant of God’.

As an explanation to this, he quoted Psalms 111:9, which reads, “They are established for ever and ever; They are done in truth and uprightness. He hath sent redemption unto his people; He hath commanded his covenant for ever: Holy and reverend is his name.”
‭
“It says Holy and Reverend is His name and this means that God, who is the holy one, is the Reverend. Holy and Reverend is God’s name so how is it possible that as a servant of God, you call yourself Reverend?”, he quizzed.

According to him, if a servant of God who has been called to do God’s work calls himself ‘Reverend’ , that means he is sharing his father’s title.

“How can you be a worker in someone’s company and call yourself the CEO? You can’t be an IGP in police when you are just recruited as a police. The leader of the police institution is the IGP so as a servant, you can’t take your father’s name “, Obiadiah furthered.

He went on that in accordance with Matthew 23:9, no one should have a spiritual father on Earth, as God is our only Spiritual Father.
