Ashalaja Zongo Chief Destooled By traditional authorities

Traditional authorities of Ashalaja in the Ga South Municipality of Greater Accra region have distooled the zongo chief of Ashalaja Alhaji Usif Tahiru for disrespecting the chiefs and elders of the community.

If the current development holds, he’ll go down in history as the first zongo chief to be destooled in the traditional area.

A letter issued on the 10th of August, 2020 by Ashalaja traditional area which was sighted by this reporter noted that, the said chief has failed as a zongo chief to take up the following roles, dispute settlement, arrangement of ceremonies and festivals, organization of communal labor and promotion of socioeconomic development which you ought to stand for, we are writing this letter to inform you about your distoolment.

Moreover, the rational being that, Alhaji Usif Tahiru has been disrespectful and impolite to both the chiefs and elders of the community which enstooled him as the zongo chief of Ashalaja

Also, the kingmakers of the Ashalaja Traditional area are under customary obligation to present a new candidate for installation as zongo chief.

Alhaji Usif Tahiru has been warned by the kingmakers to stop parading himself as a zongo chief as well as holding any kind of activities such as festivals, ceremonies and other events in Ashalaja and it environs.

The general public is advised to refrain from doing business transactions with Alhaji Usif Tahiru in the name of Ashalaja traditional area.
