Accept MMDCEs’ list in good fate- Yaw Buabeng Asamoa tells NPP party executives

The Director of communications of the New Patriotic Party, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has advised party executives at the grassroot level to respect the President’s list of MMDCEs nominees and support them accordingly.

He explained that this will strengthen the unity of the party and foster development in the various assemblies.

Addressing party members during a press conference in Accra on Friday 17 September 2021, the director of communications said: “Party executives at the grassroot level should accept the list of MMDCES nominated in good fate. The list is going to be released very eminently and we want every stakeholder especially party grassroots to accept the list in good fate because every nominee on that list that will be published is a nominee of the president in the exercise of his constitutional prerogative to appoint representative at that level. Therefore, the expectation is that party grassroots will respect the choices and receive and support the approval process for these nominees for the benefit of their district and the party”.

He stressed that the selection process has made it possible for every eligible candidate to be nominated and as such “all former contestants and stakeholders should adopt the nominees as their own and encourage a smooth confirmation process and support them in any form”.

“Once the list is confirmed, competition in any form must end nobody should go and insist that they ought to have been the right person”, he added.

In a Facebook post on 16th September, 2021 by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, it was made known that President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo will submit a list of nominated Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to the Minister for Local Government and Regional Reorganization.

Eugene Arhin confirmed that the President has finalized the list of nominees. He thus assured that the Ministry of Local Government Rural Development will soon announce the names.

“List of MMDCE nominees finalised by President Akufo-Addo; it will be submitted in the morning to the Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Hon. Dan Botwe. Expect the list to be announced by the Minister very soon”, the post read.
