WAEC to release 2025 BECE private candidate results today The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates will be released by the end of today, Friday, September 5. Speaking at a media briefing, WAEC’s Public Relations Officer, John Kapi, confirmed the release timeline and shared key statistics. “A total of 1,661 private candidates, 858 males and 803 females, registered for this year’s BECE. This marks a 19.49% increase compared to last year,” he stated. According to John Kapi, the provisional results for school candidates were released earlier on August 23, with 603,328 students participating from 20,395 schools. WAEC noted a 5.99% rise in school candidate numbers. Kapi also addressed examination integrity, saying, “Candidates who infringed on the rules governing the conduct of the examination were appropriately sanctioned following investigations and the advice of the Council’s relevant committee.”

In honor of the late Ga ManyƐ (Paramount Queen of Ga State), Naa Dedei Omaedru III, offices and shops in the Central Business District of the Greater Accra Region are set to temporarily close for three days. The closure is to facilitate the final funeral rites of the revered queen.

According to Naa-Yarlay Adjei Amoah, the Chief of Staff at the office of the Ga Mantse and Secretary of the Central Funeral Planning Committee, the shutdown will take place from October 27th to October 29th, 2023. During this period, businesses are also encouraged to adorn their premises with black and red drapings as a mark of respect and mourning.

This announcement came as a part of the preparations for the final funeral rites, scheduled to run from October 15th to October 31st, 2023, for the late Ga ManyƐ, who passed away in December of the previous year.

Naa-Yarlay Adjei Amoah emphasized that this period of mourning is not limited to the palace alone, but a collective expression of grief, calling on all businesses and markets in the region to participate in this solemn observance.
