Senior Meteorologist at the Ghana Meteorological Agency(GMet), Joshua Asamoah has cautioned residents along Ghana’s eastern coastline, including the capital city Accra, to prepare for higher-than-usual rainfall during the ongoing rainy season.
The Senior Meteorologist issued the caution during an interview on Happy 98.9FM’s Happy Morning Show with Sefah-Danquah where he explained that meteorological data indicates that the Eastern Coast — covering major areas of Accra and other coastal towns is expected to receive a significant increase in total rainfall compared to previous years.
“This does not mean it will rain every day; The fact that it is above normal rainfall refers to the total volume of rainfall expected over the entire season, not daily occurrences.” Asamoah noted.
He emphasized that the projection should serve as an early warning for residents and city authorities to take precautionary measures, especially in flood-prone areas.
