Residents of Adabraka are calling on the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to fully extinguish a lingering fire at a warehouse that caught fire on Thursday October 2nd, citing growing concerns over thick, toxic smoke still billowing from the site. They fear the smoke poses serious health risks due to the warehouse’s contents, which reportedly include wool carpets, furniture, and other interior décor materials.
Greater Accra Regional Fire Commander, ACFO II Rasheed Nisawu, confirmed that the blaze began Thursday afternoon and was later brought under control. He added that investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, Minister of Trade, Elizabeth Ofosu, who visited the scene, was briefed by GNFS officials on the progress. She urged swift action to completely douse the remaining fire and directed staff at the nearby Dignity DTRT facility to wear nose masks as a safety precaution.
