Adansiman traditional council wants technical university at obuasi

The Adansiman Traditional Council of the Ashanti Region has called on the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to establish a technical university in Obuasi to preserve the mineral heritage of the area.
According to the traditional council, a lot of assets belonging to the Anglogold Ashanti (AGA) have been released to the traditional council which can use for the establishment of the technical university in the area.
‘It is the hope of the council that a technical university in Obuasi as well as a mines museum will be built in the area the council said.
The Special Aide of the Adansihene; Nana Akwasi Yentumi Asante joined by Adansi  Sariki Zongo, Nana Jibrin Ibrahim, Adanis Kusasihene, Nana Kwae Pinsan II made this called when he led a twenty-man delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Minister for Inner-City and Zongo Development , Alhaji Abubakar Siddique Boniface at the Castle in Accra.
He explained that council wants the assets of AGA turned into a technical university to help groom literates from the area.
Briefing the Minister on the worth of Adansiman Council, he said the establishment of the technical university will help to document the mineral worth of the Adansiman area.
He stressed that Adansiman Traditional Council can boast of being the richest state in the country because it houses the largest gold mine in the world.
He added that the council cannot the laurels of being the richest state in the country without the immeasurable contribution from the zongo communities.
‘This special state and national asset is still on Adansiman because of the continual support rendered by the Sariki Zongo , Alhaji Jibrin Ibrahim and his people.
The council together with the zong community fought tirelessly to ward off opposition kingdoms that had just one motive of usurping the assets of Adansiman’ he told the Minister.
He single out the Sakri Zongo for the immersed contribution he has rendered to the Adansiman council.
He revealed that in the Akan paramount stools, it only   Adansi that has the legacy of strong Moslem attachment and this is clear in the stool name of the area Abu Bonsra.
He added that Adansiman will forever be indebted to the zongo community adding that the zongo community contributes over sixty percent of the manpower needs at the mines.
He said aside the Obuasi Zongo being the oldest zongo in Africa; it has an enviable record of sustained peace history.
He added that the area has Metropolitan, Municipal District Assemblies (MMDAs) all six constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
The Minister on his part assured the leadership of the council that his ministry has the mandate to establish schools but it will collaborate with the Minister of Education to see how the request can be handled.
He commended the Adansiman council to continue to co-exist with their zongo brother and sisters as no development will be taken to conflict areas of the country.
He revealed that zongo communities played a vital role in the independence struggle of the nation noting that zongo brother continue to play roles in the development of the nation.
According to him, the ministry has five thematic areas to work with in terms of education, infrastructure, security, heritage and cultural preservation among others.
He   took the opportunity express gratitude to the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for honouring his campaign promise of establishing a Ministry for the zongo communities across the country.
