The Spokesperson for Cynthia Morrison, Osei Kofi has denied allegations of firing gunshots leading to the injuries of supporters of Chris Arthur during a campaign rally at Agona Nyakrom.
According to him, as the campaign team of Cynthia Morrison were embarking on a float as part of their campaign, they came into contact with Chris Arthur’s campaign team at Agona Nyakrom who were also returning from a campaign tour.
“The Police Commander who was coordinating the float to maintain peace and order directed Chris Arthur’s team to use a different route in order not to create confusion between the supporters but they refused”.
“They decided to pass through the crowd with their convoy despite the police Commander’s direction”.
He stressed that the convoy passed through the crowd without any confrontation from their supporters.
He emphasized that even though there was a gunshot, they do not know where it came from.
“Three of our supporters were even affected by the gunshot. How can we fire gunshots and cause harm to our own members”, he quizzed.
“Since we don’t know who fired the gunshot, the matter has been reported to the police to investigate”.
