The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Bortianor–Ngleshie Amanfro constituency in the 2020 general election, Alexander Akuoku, has described the Planting for Food and Jobs policy as a pure disaster.

According to him, the Planting for Food and Jobs policy has not yielded any meaningful result, hence the demand for the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Owusu Afriyie Akoto to resign.

“The planting for food and jobs policy have not yielded any meaningful result. It is a pure disaster. If a policy is not doing well, we should say it and look for a solution to it. The agriculture minister has failed us and must refund all the money we’ve invested into the policy because we enjoyed no benefits,” he told Don Kwabena Prah on Happy98.9FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political talk show.

He disclosed Ghana is currently suffering food inflation “and if the policy had worked, we wouldn’t be buying kenkey for GHC4.00 per ball.

To him, the Ghanaian government is simply wasting the taxpayers’ money on the Planting for Food and Jobs policy.

Planting for Food and Jobs is a flagship agricultural Campaign of the Government, with five (5) implementation modules. The first module PFJ (Crops) aims to promote food security and immediate availability of selected food crops on the market and also provide jobs. This module was officially launched by H. E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo at Goaso on April 19, 2017 in the then Brong Ahafo Region.

The five Modules are:
•Food Crops (PFJ)
•Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD)
•Greenhouse Technology Villages (3 Villages)
•Rearing for Food and Jobs ( RFJ)
•Agricultural Mechanization Services (AMSECs)
