Akua Donkor accuses NDC of frustrating EC Chairperson's work

Presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party(GFP), Madam Akua Donkor, has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for what she describes as their ongoing attempts to undermine the efforts of the Electoral Commission (EC) and its chairperson, Jean Mensa.

Speaking at the EC’s Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Madam Akua Donkor commended Jean Mensa and the commission for their “exceptional” work. She asserted that the NDC has consistently harassed Jean Mensa since her appointment as chairperson.

She recalled that the NDC had taken Jean Mensa to court when she was about to compile the names of voters but ultimately faced embarrassment in the process. She emphasized that the EC had recommended that political parties send representatives to the registration centers, a suggestion that was embraced by all parties, including her own. Additionally, she pointed out that the EC had introduced challenge forms to allow political parties to contest the registration of ineligible individuals.

With these mechanisms in place, Akua Donkor questioned why the NDC continues to frustrate the efforts of the EC chairperson.

She stated that despite their attempts, the NDC will ultimately fail.
She extended her praise to both the EC and the New Patriotic Party for their contributions to the electoral process.
