The General Secretary of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), George Afful has announced that the party’s leadership will convene on Monday to reach an agreement on both the presidential candidate and a running mate for the upcoming elections.

In an interview with Bismark Brown on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Da Ben on Friday, November 1, Mr. Afful stated that the party is committed to continuing the legacy of the late Madam Akua Donkor.

This announcement follows the passing of Madam Akua Donkor, the party’s presidential candidate, on October 29. He noted that the party officials have held two meetings but have yet to make a definitive decision regarding their leadership. Therefore, they plan to hold their third meeting in Madam Akua Donkor’s birth region in hopes of reaching a conclusion.

He highlighted the significance of this decision, indicating that it reflects the leadership’s collective dedication to honoring Akua Donkor’s contributions and carrying on the party’s mission in her memory.

Ghana Freedom Party’s executives and leadership have been given ten days by the Electoral Commission to determine the next presidential candidate and running mate. This information will be presented to the EC and the public within the specified timeframe to allow the Commission to fulfill its legal responsibilities and support the democratic process in the country.

Additionally, Afful denied claims that other political parties might have approached them to influence their decisions. He emphasized that the GFP is focused on making its own decisions that will benefit both the party and the citizens of Ghana.
