Alcohol is one of the many things that people are constantly advised about. Studies show that the harmful use of alcohol kills more than three million people each year yet alcoholic brands have some of the most motivational taglines you’ll ever hear.

I bet you haven’t noticed this until now. Well, I will list a few of these brands and their taglines but before I do, let’s have a little discussion on why alcohol seems to be doing more harm than good.

*Is it bad to drink alcohol?*
No, it is not bad to drink alcohol. As a matter of fact, it has been proven that moderate alcohol consumption can help reduce risk of developing and dying of heart disease, possibly reduce risk of ischemic stroke as well as risk of diabetes.
The actual problem comes in when alcohol intake is not regulated. On a regular, an individual can have three drinks at most in a day, however, anything above this number is considered and heavy or high-risk drinking, and can pose serious health risks.

*Can everyone drink alcohol?*
No!! Alcohol is not suitable for pregnant women, children under the legal age for drinking and people who have certain medical conditions or are taking certain medications that can counteract with the alcohol.

People drink alcohol for various reasons such as enhancing sociability, to increase sexual power, to escape their problems, for enjoyment, and a whole lot. However, if people who are not eligible to take alcohol would simply stay away from it and if people who are also allowed to take it would stick to drinking the right amount of alcohol daily, then alcohol would actually be able to give people its benefits and we can also heed to their motivational taglines.

Next time you decide to drink irresponsibly and put your life at risk, remember that Johnnie Walker says ‘keep walking’, Hennessy says ‘Never stop, never settle’, and Guinness says ‘There’s a drop of greatness in every man’. There are others like Bacardi Rum that says ‘Live like you mean it’, Guinness Irish Stout – out of the darkness comes light, Dos Equis Mexican Beer- Sooner or later you’ll get it and Cutty Sark Whisky- Don’t give up the ship, among others.

Before you go drinking too much alcohol and get reckless with your life, ask yourself if the that is what the alcoholic brand you’re taking is asking you to do.
