Owner and bankroller of King Faisal, Alhaji Karim Grunsah  has decided to drop out of the 2019 Ghana Football Association Presidential race to contest for the Executive Council position.

According to the outspoken football administrator, he will channel his energy in helping Ghana football in a different capacity and not as the President of the Association and for one to  be president you need to start from somewhere.

“I have decided to bow out of the FA president race and will be contesting for the Executive council slot. I’ve picked up my forms. I want to help move Ghana football forward with my rich experience. I don’t think I have grown above the EXCO but for one to become President you need to start from somewhere, even Nana Addo became a minister before becoming the president.” He said on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports with Ohene Brenya-Bampoe.

He added” I don’t think it will be difficult for me to get votes and be on EXCO because those contesting have been there before. Lawyer Kweku Eyiah was part of the old administration and we know how things turned out to be. I will make sure that things work within the frame of the law.”

AshantiGold Chief Executive Officer Mr. Frederick Acheampong, Bankroller of Heart of Lions Randy Abbey and Kotoko Chief Executive Officer (CEO), George Amoako,  Nana Oduro Sarfo have all picked their nominations to contest for the Executive Council slot.

The contest for a slot on the Executive Council, previously the Executive Committee, will be given a stiff race following the reduction of the composition from 23 to 12 members.

The GFA Executive Council elections are set to be held on October 24.
