Central Regional NDC chairman Allotey Jacobs has defended Rawlings in a statement the former head of state put across that the party has a lot of great, good people with solid integrity but a lot of the party’s grip is in the hands of those who lack integrity.
In an address delivered at a Town Hall meeting of cadres and NDC activists at the Arts Centre in Accra on Saturday, Mr Rawlings condemned the situation where media propagandists sponsored by some within the party deliberately twist the truth in what he says to court negativity towards him.
However, the claims have not gone down too well with some members of the former ruling party.
During an interview with Kwame Afrifa Mensah on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben, Mr Jacobs, noted that the children in the party always cast insults on Rawlings whenever they are given opportunity on the airwaves, and admonish them put a stop to such behaviours.
“Rawlings is unpredictable, so NDC should not disrespect and disregard him, if you do all these negative deeds to him, why won’t he be bitter?
The vociferous Allotey insisted that a divided house cannot win anything hence the party needs to reconcile with Rawlings.
“There is a need to respect Rawlings, consult and involve him in all activities. We must bring Rawlings on board to advice the party well,” he urged.
