Alpha Lotto Limited, an operator in the lottery and games industry, has donated a cash amount of Gh¢50,000 to FIFA U-20 World Cup winning coach, Sellas Tetteh, popularly known as ‘Borbor’.

Apart from the cash, the company donated some bags of rice, bottles of water, mackerel and oil to support the coach.

A management member of Alpha Lotto Limited, Emmanuel Senanu, noted that the gesture was in line with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility to help orphanages, the aged and the needy.

He stated that the decision to give the coach such a donation came after hearing about his health condition.

He said that the donation was essential because they consider it important to honour the nation’s heroes while they are still alive and not only after they have passed away.

Emmanuel Senanu urged individuals and organizations to provide financial or in-kind assistance to Coach ‘Borbor’ as a way of supporting his health.

An excited and enthusiastic Sellas Tetteh expressed his gratitude to Alpha Lotto for the gesture.

“It feels great to be remembered by people like you, especially in such a time like this in my life. Thank you,” he said.

About Sellas Tetteh

Sellas Tetteh is a coach renowned for his ability to groom youth players into global stars.

He is most famous for leading the Ghana U-20 team to sweeping the plate of trophies available in 2009 when he won the West African Football Union (WAFU) Championship, the 2009 African Youth Championship, the first time since 1999 when they won, with that qualifying them to the World Cup.

He then guided the team to the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup, becoming the first and only African team to win the competition.

As a consequence, Tetteh won the CAF Coach of the Year Award and the Sports Writers Association of Ghana Coach of the Year Award.

He was also honoured by veteran coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, who ‘knighted’ Tetteh.

Tetteh was appointed manager of the Rwandan national side in February 2010, leaving his dual position as manager of the Ghana U-20 national team and Ghanaian club side Liberty Professionals.

He was reappointed coach of the Ghana U-20 team in December 2012 ahead of the 2013 African Youth Championship in Algeria. He led the team to a 2nd place losing to Egypt in the finals after a penalty shootout.

Tetteh was again in charge of Ghana’s U-20 team at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup where led the team to a third-place finish.
