Head coach of Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Joe Nana Adarkwa, has revealed the key to their remarkable win against Moroccan team AS Far in the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League Group B opener.

In a captivating start to the CAF Women’s Champions League, Ampem Darkoa Ladies staged an impressive comeback, securing a 2-1 victory over AS Far, largely due to Comfort Yeboah’s exceptional performance.
The Ghanaian side had a shaky start, conceding a goal just 14 minutes into the game, courtesy of Najat Badri from the Moroccan team. However, their determined second-half effort turned the tide in their favor.

Speaking in an interview on Happy FM, Coach Nana Adarkwa credited his squad’s longevity for their success. “I’ve been with this squad for a considerable amount of time, and the Ampem Darkoa players understand each other. That’s why I was very confident about our chances of victory going into the game, and we were able to proudly represent Ghana. While we aren’t considered favorites to win the competition at this stage, we are taking it one game at a time, and I am confident we will perform well throughout the tournament.”

Ampem Darkoa Ladies are set to face AS Mande in their upcoming match on Thursday, November 9, at Laurent Pokou in San Pedro.
