The Appointments Committee of Parliament will begin the vetting of President John Dramani Mahama’s Regional Ministerial nominees on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
A memo from Parliament’s Director of Media Relations, cited by Happyghana.com states that the vetting will continue until Monday, January 27, at Committee rooms 1, 2, and 3 in the new administration block.
According to Ghana’s constitutional requirements, ministerial appointments must receive the Speaker of Parliament’s approval before the nominees can be sworn into office.
The vetting process involves background checks and parliamentary reviews to assess the candidates’ qualifications and is a key part of Parliament’s constitutional duty to uphold accountability and transparency in public appointments.
