The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has dismissed claims that the NDC government is plotting to remove suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo from office.
Speaking to a journalist on Tuesday, Mr. Nketiah said the executive arm has taken no steps to oust the Chief Justice but is rather carrying out its constitutional duties.
He insists that the executive has not acted with the attempt to remove Justice Torkornoo and rejected suggestions that the judiciary is under attack.
According to him, what is happening is a reform of state institutions, including the judiciary, to enable them to deliver on their constitutional responsibilities.
Mr. Nketiah stressed that institutional reforms are critical to strengthening democracy and called on all arms of government to function effectively within their mandates.
