The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled a meeting with political parties as part of preparations toward the upcoming Ayawaso East parliamentary by-election.
In a letter addressed to the General Secretaries of all registered political parties, the Commission announced that an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the EC’s Corporate Head Office in Accra.
The EC said discussions at the meeting will focus solely on matters related to the Ayawaso East by-election. Political parties have been directed to limit their representation to a maximum of two persons.
The invitation, signed by Dr. Bossman Eric Asare, Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services, was issued on behalf of the Chairperson of the Commission.
The by-election has attracted significant public attention, particularly following recent developments within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including allegations of vote-buying during the party’s parliamentary primary in the constituency.
The Ayawaso East seat became vacant following the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Naser Toure Mahama, leaving the constituency without representation in Parliament and necessitating the conduct of a by-election.
