The Overlord of the Kusaug Traditional Area, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, has issued a strong condemnation of the killing of a military officer in Bawku on Monday, March 17, 2025.

In a press statement, the Bawku Naba described the act as senseless and urged authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice.

The tragic incident occurred in the Kpalore-Avengo enclave of Bawku, where the officer, reportedly unarmed, was ambushed by gunmen and killed instantly.

Although not fully dressed in military attire, he was said to be wearing camouflage, which may have identified him as a member of the armed forces.

This incident has reignited tensions in the area, leaving residents gripped by fear and uncertainty.

The Bawku Naba called for calm among the populace while emphasizing the need for decisive action to address the escalating violence.

“This senseless act of violence is a stain on our community”.

The statement further added that, “We must work together to ensure peace and justice prevail.”
