The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called for closer and sustained collaboration between himself, the Minority Caucus in Parliament, and party faithful as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.

Dr. Bawumia made the call on Monday, February 2, when the Minority Caucus and members of the NPP paid a visit to him at his residence.

According to the NPP flagbearer, working closely at this early stage is crucial to identifying challenges within the party and addressing them before they escalate.

“If we don’t work closely, there are many things that will go on that I will not know about,” Dr. Bawumia noted, stressing the importance of regular engagement and information sharing.

He cautioned against complacency, stating that although 2028 may appear distant, time moves quickly in politics.

He therefore urged party members not to delay efforts aimed at rebuilding and strengthening the party.

“People think three years is long, but it isn’t. The earlier we start, the better it will be for us,” he said.

Dr. Bawumia explained that early action would enable the party to identify problems at the constituency level, engage key stakeholders, and bring more people on board to improve electoral fortunes.

He encouraged the Minority Caucus and party structures to help map out constituencies, identify influential individuals, and highlight areas that require targeted engagement if the party is to win parliamentary seats.

The NPP flagbearer reaffirmed his readiness to work tirelessly for the party’s success, emphasizing that victory would require collective effort.

“For me, I’m here to work. I’m not afraid of working now. I will work hard for us to win this election,” he assured, adding that cooperation from party members would be key to achieving that goal.
