#AfconHub2021: Black Stars players confident of progressing out of group stage

Some players of the senior national football team the Black Stars have apologized to Ghanaians after the team’s worst-ever performance in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The Black Stars exited the competition in the group stage after losing to Morocco and debutants Comoros Islands. Ghana needed a victory against Comoros in their last group game to stand a chance of progressing to the Round of 16 but failed woefully to beat one of the lowest ranked side on the continent.

With tempers rising and most Ghanaians calling for the head of Coach Milovan Rajevac, some players have expressed their disappointment and rendered an apology to the fans after exiting the tournament.

David Abagna Sandan

It’s always an honor to represent our country, not the performance we expected, we hold our hands up and apologize to the nation for letting them down. Ghana deserves better from us and we are sorry, we will continue to work hard and put Ghana back to where she belongs. God bless our homeland. Daniel Amartey I don’t even know where to start and I don’t know how to put into words how I am feeling at this exact time. There were expectations placed on us when we left for the AFCON. We failed Ghana and fans across Africa with poor results. I will be one of the first to own up and admit we let Ghana down. A bad record was set and I profusely say sorry to all Ghanaians. As a member of the team, I know how my other colleagues feel at this moment. We are sad and hurt but we know Ghanaians are hurt more. I have just settled back into club football and I will continue to work harder for the Ghana shirt. Sweat and Bleed for the nation Ghana. Together we will win again. God bless you all.

Still trying to recover from our painful exit from the competition. Apologies and thanks to Ghanaians for their support and love. It’s unfortunate we couldn’t repay them with the results. A lot of lessons to learn from these low moments. We shall be back stronger.

It breaks my heart, we couldn’t live up to expectations at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. There is no excuse for our failure. We ask Ghanaians to forgive us and we will surely bounce back.

Words will certainly not be enough to erase the frustration. We are disappointed and also sorry for our Ghanaian people to have failed at this stage of the competition, We must stay focused because qualifying for the World Cup must motivate us more than anything.

I love this club and love my country even though things don’t happen how I wanted, I would continue to work harder and make things right. “I came back with the mentality to make myself available for the team to get to the final but it did not happen as planned. “I will continue to give my all when am on the field of play because this is my life and this is what I chose to do. “Am not happy with all that happened yesterday at the AFCON but I understand only with hard work things will continue to work hard to change this. Thanks.”

Together, We will win again ???????? pic.twitter.com/CointAOCLs
