Black Stars sexual rendezvous saga: Players respond to what they see and feel – Fred Pappoe

In a shocking postmortem of the country’s disastrous 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, players enjoyed erotic rendezvous with their partners at the expense of focusing on the task. This is according to a media report.

Other reports also say lack of personal discipline was one of the chief reasons for the team’s lack of energy and firepower as the team exited the competition in the most disgraceful manner.

In an interview, on Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo Sports’ with Ohene Brenya Bampoe the Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President and Black Stars management committee chairman, Fred Pappoe said, “There was an apparent lack of control of visitors into the Stars camp and reports of players not resting enough and staying up to early hours of the morning braiding hair and other stuff. The question we must ask is who was the leader of delegation during the tournament? It can’t be Dr kK. Sarpong because he wasn’t there throughout. There was a need for visible leadership with the team. These are some of the lapses in the team that could contribute to our poor showing.”

“Footballers will respond to what they see and feel. If there was a command chain, these issues won’t pop out. Some will misbehave if they notice nobody is watching them. If Dr. KK Sarpong was busy and couldn’t be around, someone or an official should be firm enough to command,” he added.

He also opined that, if the media reports are true, then the management committee did not do well. “If the report we are hearing is true, with all due respect to the management committee didn’t do well. Things were better in Dubai but they lost control in Egypt. Players not being able to perform because ladies visited is so unfortunate and points to a bigger problem.”

There was a media report that girlfriends of Ghana players besieged the team’s camp in Egypt as coach Kwesi Appiah failed to show leadership over the sexual expedition.
