The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed the arrival of the bodies of all eight victims of the Z-9 military helicopter crash that occurred near Sikaman in the Adansi Akrofuom area of the Ashanti Region.
The remains were flown to Accra aboard a Ghana Air Force Casa aircraft and received at the Air Force Base by a delegation led by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, alongside the Military High Command and government officials.
In a statement signed by Acting Director General of Public Relations, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, the Ghana Armed Forces, thanked the people of sikaman for the support and recovery of the bodies.
“The Ghana Armed Forces once again wishes to thank the good people of Sikaman and all security services for their support during the recovery effort”.
The bodies have been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital for burial preparations.
Among the deceased are Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
The statement further indicated that, Deputy Defence Minister Brogya Genfi described the incident as a “difficult national tragedy”.
