NPP Communication Officers in Bono Region are on an indefinite strike, over what they term illegal sale of heavy machinery (Tipper trucks, front loaders and graders) from Regional Coordinating Council.

In a press conference held in Sunyani, the NPP communication officers revealed that their repeated attempts to obtain information about the auction of the heavy machinery, including tipper trucks, front loaders, and a grader, have been met with silence, prompting their indefinite strike action.

According to their spokesperson, Abubakari Yakubu, the sold equipment could have significantly enhanced the region’s roads, and therefore, they will persist in their strike, refusing to return to the studios until government discloses who purchased the equipment and the reasons behind the controversial sale.

“Under the cover of darkness, the Bono Regional Coordinating Council secretly auctioned off vital trucks, leaving us in the dark about the identity of the buyers and the reasons behind this dubious sale. In response, all 12 communication officers in the region have united to demand accountability and transparency from the Council. We seek answers to two critical questions: Who authorized the auction, and why were the trucks sold instead of being utilized by the assemblies for essential activities like road maintenance? We will persist in our strike until we receive satisfactory responses”, he said.
