The prices of some building materials specifically iron rods have been reduced, happyghana.com can exclusively report.

As of the time this story was filed, our checks from the four leading companies in the building materials industry confirmed the media reports about the reduction in the prices of iron rods.

This comes on the back of the rants of Trade and Industries Minister, K.T Hammond who reacted angry to the decision of the producers to increase the price of iron rods even though the government has provided the necessary enabling environment for their business to thrive.

The Adansi Asokwa MP described the development as a “conspiracy of a cabal of cement producers and importers,” to exploit the system and should be condemned.

The comments and the pressure from the Minister seem to have yielded results as the price of iron rod (size 12 and 16) has been reduced from GH₵6600 to GH₵6400.

The four leading companies, KK Peprah Roofing Sheets, Atala Ltd, K.O Ofori Ltd and Antis Ltd confirmed this in an interview with happyghana.com.
